Jamb Size: Refers to the width of the support frame used to make a pre-hung door unit. The standard jamb size is 4-9/16". This would be used on walls framed with 2x4 lumber and 1/2" sheetrock on both side of the wall.

*IMPORTANT: Some homes are framed using 2x6 lumber for thicker walls for better insolation values. In that case you would most likely need a 6-9/16" jamb on your pre-hung door. Some walls also covered with thicker or thinner sheetrock which can also change the size of the door jamb you need. Please be sure to measure the thickness of the wall before ordering your door.

Example: 2x4 Wall (3-1/2") + 1/2" sheetrock x 2 sides= 4-9/16"

Clear: Refers to moulding that is made from one solid piece of wood. This moulding is more exspensive, but is ideal if you are going to stain the trim.

Finger-Joint: Refers to moulding that is joined together from small pieces. This type of moulding is primed white for painting and is less exspensive than clear pine. If you are going to paint your mouldings this is the one you want to use.
